Then I’ll get back to what I was doing. Maybe. the class I attended at Pete Galbert’s ended on Sunday and everyone had a great spanking-new chair to call their own.
My goal was to come right home on Sunday after class and dive in on Monday morning to make another chair right away. While I still can make sense of my notes and the class is still fresh in my mind. Knowing that the road to hell is paved with good intentions, this idea was what I hoped for. I was able to mostly follow that map, but not without some bumps in the road. First - while I was away my family got covid, (none badly, everyone’s mostly OK) - so while I had fun saying “My wife told me not to come home…” - it was a bit weird not coming home after the week away. I stayed at my friends’ house Sunday & Monday night.
But because my shop is not connected to the house, I did get in there yesterday to begin the seat for the next chair. After planing a blank to 1 3/4” thick, I sawed out the front two-thirds of the pattern. Then marked it all up for boring the leg and spindle mortises. Most of the latter, but not all. And started hollowing.
