vimeo on demand series; 3 1/2 hours plus
I just “published” my newest vimeo-on-demand series, “Making a Brettstuhl.” I’ve worked on this series for the past month-plus, off and on. This is the chair in the series.
Right now the series is about 3 1/2 hours - I have one more video-chapter to finish, the one on carving the patterns on the back. The series is $50 - paid subscribers to this blog get 20% off - there’s a link for that below the paywall. Below is the trailer for it -
Several people helped me learn about these chairs; Drew Langsner in the first place and Chris Schwarz and his chair-chat gang, Rudy Everts and Klaus Skrudland shared a slew of detailed photos of period chairs from Europe.

I made a 4-page PDF of some of the seat-plan and back pattern - I don’t know how (yet, or maybe never) to include that in the vimeo bit - so it’s here. It’s not beautiful, but will help with some of the layout and geometry.
